On July 31, 2019, the U.S. District Court’s nomination of one of our partners, William S. Stickman IV, was confirmed. Mr. Stickman will now be serving as a United States District Judge for the United States District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania.
Mr. Stickman started at our firm in 2007 as an Associate and became partner in 2013. His legal focus was in commercial litigation and appellate matters. Prior to serving at our firm, he served as a law clerk to the Honorable Chief Justice Ralph J. Cappy of the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania. Alongside his legal career, from 2011 to 2017, he also served on the Pennsylvania Civil Procedural Rules Committee.
Mr. Stickman earned his Bachelor of Arts, summa cum laude, and his Juris Doctor from Duquesne University.
Mr. Stickman led a professional career in the legal field prior to his nomination and will continue to use his extensive knowledge and legal commitment to support his new role. Upon receiving his confirmation, U.S. Senators Pat Toomey (R-Pa.) and Bob Casey (D-Pa.) released the following statements:
“I am pleased the Senate confirmed Judge Stickman,” said Senator Toomey. According to Mr. Toomey, Stickman has “the experience, intelligence, and integrity necessary to excel on the federal bench.”
“William Stickman has the integrity, intellect and qualifications to serve on the federal bench for the Western District of Pennsylvania. Senator Casey said, adding that he has “the character and independence to serve fairly and impartially.”
